OLED Display
OLED is the most direct feedback mode. While doing normal operation, it shows date(yy/mm/dd) at the top left corner of the screen, time(24hr) at the top right corner, status information such as System Normal, Level Error, or Alarm down the screen. There’re no angle limits on OLED screen. It is with a very low power dissipation and the power is supplied by the internal power resource. It can display under any circumstances without being influenced by the temperature.
Relay output port
There are two connectors (10 pins in total) on the left side of the operation panel. There are 3 relays with 3 connection points on each relay. Relays on both sides are self-locking. Output mode of one relay is ALARM, THE OTHER IS TROUBLE. Once the relays are triggered, they won’t change even disconnected to the power. You can use RELAY CONTACT RESET to reset the relay. The relay in the middle is a non-self-locking relay with ALARM output mode, once it quits the ALARM mode it’ll be reset automatically.
Every relay has 3 connectors, the yellow one is a public connector, the blue one is a normal on connector, the green one is a normal off connector. (see on the wiring diagram)
Button to reset Relays
These two buttons are used to reset the self-locking relays on both sides. Pressing either side won’t affect the screen display or shut down the alarm sound. Press ALARM OR Trouble to reset the corresponding relay. If the relay is working, you can hear a very clear contact click sound by pressing ALARM OR TROUBLE, however it won’t affect the system.
Input port to reset ALARM remotely
Connect normal on switch to this port to reset the earthquake alarm remotely. (i.e.: press normal on switch to reset the alarm in the control room rather than doing the operation locally.) Such operation effects the same as connecting local switch or press ALARM RELAY CONTACT REST locally. Requirement of connecting external switch: 100Ma@12VDC.

Initialization check(Select sub-menu 2.CALIBRATE)
The sensor of the seismometer has been set to the best status before delivery, so this function shall only be used when errors happen due to installation locations or angles. Moreover, this function shall only be executed when the seismometer is fixed stably at a position.
When initialization check is required, use UP to move the cursor to“2.CALIBRATE”, then press SET. The LCD will show as below:
Most importantly, during the whole check, the seismometer must stand still. When the check is finished, the LCD will return to the normal operation interface.
Metering(Select sub-menu 3.Metering)
This function is to meter accelerated speed caused by all external forces apart from the gravity. These forces are displayed as accelerated speed on (XYZ)axes. The diagram below shows the relationship between direction and the coordinate axis. The vertical axes is with a “^” sign. In the case as below, the Z axes is vertical.
There are two display methods for this function. The first one is to display accelerated speed on each axes (Unit: G); the other one is to display the gradient on each axes. Press and hold UP for 1 second to switch the metering function into the mode of metering accelerated speeds. Press and hold DOWN for 1 second, to switch it into the mode of metering angles.
In the mode of metering accelerated speed, each force is described as a absolute g -value of the force (1.00G is the Unit of acceleration of gravity). The measurement shall be corrected to 0.01G. If the initialization check has been done after turning on the machine, then due to no external force at the moment, the data displayed on each axes shall be 0.00(1.00 on Z axes).
In the mode of metering angles, the system will automatically calculate the deviation between the 3d angle of the current seismometer and the previous angle calculated after initialization check in real-time. The measurement shall use degree as the unit and be corrected to 1 degree.
Setup trigger value of earthquake alarm(Select sub-menu 4.Alarm Setting)
This function is used to set a trigger value to decide whether the system gives an alarm when earthquake happens. There are two setup methods: 1-ASCE25-97 Standard;2-User defined. It shows as below:
ASCE 25-97 Standard provides data of seismic waves within certain frequency range and the corresponding threshold value of accelerated speed for the system to judge whether to give on alarm or not. Please check appendix A for more information about this standard. Due to the high accuracy of the sensor, the system is able to divide the part that is judged to alarm in the standard into 10 more specific grades.
These grades are numbered from 1 to 10, no.1 is with the highest sensitive while No.10 is with the lowest. No.6 is defaulted as it’s in the middle, it is applicable for most of situations. Use UP to change the ASCE grades then press ESC to save the settings and return to the main menu.

Intensity and Mercalli Scale revised edition
Seismic intensity means the shaking degree caused by earthquake within certain special area. It shows the influence happens to people, buildings and environment caused by the earthquake.
Mercalli scale normally uses I-XII to distinguish. There are some crucial factors in Mercalli scale: i.e.: soil constitution, distance to the seismic center, distance from position where the earthquake happens to the land surface. Mercalli scale is not shown by numbers, but by damage value caused by some factors such as how people are frightened and how much shaking people feel. This information is collected by survey after the earthquake.
Mercalli Scale revised edition:
Ⅰ | Not felt except by very few under especially favorable conditions. |
Ⅱ | Felt only by a few people at rest, especially on upper floors of buildings. |
Ⅲ | Felt quite noticeably by people indoors, especially on upper floors of buildings. Many people do not recognize it as an earthquake. Standing motor cars may rock slightly. Vibrations similar to the passing of a truck. Duration estimated. |
Ⅳ | Felt indoors by many, outdoors by few during the day. At night, some awakened. Dishes, windows, doors disturbed; walls make cracking sound. Sensation like heavy truck striking building. Standing motor cars rocked noticeably. |
Ⅴ | Felt by nearly everyone; many awakened. Some dishes, windows broken. Unstable objects overturned. Pendulum clocks may stop. |
Ⅵ | Felt by all, many frightened. Some heavy furniture moved; a few instances of fallen plaster. Damage slight. |
Ⅶ | Damage negligible in buildings of good design and construction; slight to moderate in well-built ordinary structures; considerable damage in poorly built or badly designed structures; some chimneys broken. |
Ⅷ | Damage slight in specially designed structures; considerable damage in ordinary substantial buildings with partial collapse. Damage great in poorly built structures. Fall of chimneys, factory stacks, columns, monuments, walls. Heavy furniture overturned. |
Ⅸ | Damage considerable in specially designed structures; well-designed frame structures thrown out of plumb. Damage great in substantial buildings, with partial collapse. Buildings shifted off foundations. Liquefaction. |
Ⅹ | Some well-built wooden structures destroyed; most masonry and frame structures destroyed with foundations. Rails bent. |
Ⅺ | Few, if any, (masonry) structures remain standing. Bridges destroyed. Broad fissures in ground. Underground pipe lines completely out of service. Earth slumps and land slips in soft ground. Rails bent greatly. |
Ⅻ | Damage total. Waves seen on ground surfaces. Lines of sight and level distorted. Objects thrown upward into the air. |
